10 March 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser

Death, after a month's illness due to a complication of diseases, came to Richard Brown at the home of his son at 332 Third avenue, at 6 o'clock last evening.

Born in Naidstone, England, in 1881, Mr. Brown came to America, moving to Gardenplain, Illinois, in 1852. During the last 20 years he had been retired from active business, living with his son here until the time of his death. He is survived by his son, William on Third avenue, and his daughter, Mrs. J. C. Hansen, of Canby, Minnesota, who was at his bedside at the time of his death. He also leaves two grandsons in Minnesota and two granddaughters, Helen and Josephine, at home.

Funeral services will be held Sunday in charge of Rev. Rendall of the Presbyterian church, and burial will be in Gardenplain.
