Charles Norton, aged 50 years passed away last night after a lingering illness of about a year's duration.

Mr. Norton was born in Bristol, Vermont, in 1865, and had made his home in Lyons for a great many years. He was a carpenter by trade, and is survived by his wife and one brother, Herbert Norton of Lyons.

Sunday night at 11 o'clock occurred the death of Charles E. Norton, a resident of this city for a number of years. Mr. Norton has been ailing for some time and his death was not entirely unexpected.

Deceased was about 50 years of age and was a carpenter by trade.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Lyons Methodist church at 1:30, wit the Rev. R. C. Keagy in charge of the service. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

The funeral of the late Charles E. Norton was held at the Lyons Methodist church last Wednesday afternoon, burial being made in Oakland cemetery.

The deceased was born November 4, 1865 at Bristol, Vermont. When a boy he moved to Morrison, Illinois with his parents and later, as a young man, he went to Savanna, where he remained in the employ of J. S. Bowman as foreman of the livery for 13 years.

Eleven years ago he moved to Lyons, where he lived at the time of his death. During his residence in Lyons, he engaged extensively in carpenter work and was well known in the city.

Mr. Norton was a faithful workman, a loving husband and brother, and had a keen interest in the public welfare. He was a member of the Mystic Workers of the World, lodge Number ?8.

Surviving are his wife, his brother, Herbert, and two nieces and three nephews as follows: Mrs. Antwine Dean, of DeWitt, Miss Susie Norton, of Lyons, Elmer and George Varney of Clinton, Leslie Norton of Ocean Park, California.

The pall bearers at the funeral services were: Patrick Ray, John Upton, Andrew Dietz, James Cavanaugh, Fred Schall, Edward Milan.

Those from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. A. Dean of DeWitt, Mrs. Kate Nagel of Davenport, Mrs. Ray Senteen, Mrs. Arno and Charles Hatfield of Savanna.
