P.T. DONLAN, A PIONEER OF CLINTON, DIES
Second Stroke of Paralysis Brings Life of Long-time Resident to Close
HERE SINCE THE YEAR 1865
Deceased was Employed by W. J. Young & Co. for Many Years--Funeral Services Tuesday.

P. T. Donlan, a pioneer resident of Clinton, passed away Saturday evening at his home, 647 Fourth avenue, death following a stroke of paralysis.

Mr. Donlan was one of Clinton's old and highly esteemed residents. He came to this city in 1865, and for many years was an employee of the W. J. Young & Co. mill, retiring from active work after that company ceased the manufacture of lumber here.

The funeral is to be held from St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. A solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated by the pastor, Very Rev. E. J. McLaughlin, and interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.

Friends are requested to refrain from sending flowers.

P. T. Donlan was born in County Galway, Ireland, seventy years ago. When a lad of nineteen years he came to the United States, living for a few years in New Jersey. Later he removed to DeKalb, Ill., and in 1865 to this city, where he entered the employ of W. J. Young & Co., remaining with that company as a valued employe for many years. He was foreman of the company's big dry sheds here.

In 1868 Mr. Donlan was united in marriage with Miss Mary Sheeley of Dixon, Ill. To this union were born eleven children. Mrs. Donlan and eight sons and daughters survive the husband and father. These are Miss Anna, Miss Mayme, John, James, Joseph, Charles, Miss Mabel and Eugene Donlan, all at home.

Mr. Donlan had been ill since last July. About the 15th of that month he was stricken by paralysis and had been confined to his bed since that time. Saturday night a second shock made it apparent that the end was near, and, surrounded by the members of his family, he passed quietly away at 5:30 o'clock on that evening.

A son of the deceased, Thomas Donlan, of the firm of Donlan-Redden, passed away a few months ago.

Mr. Donlan was a man of sterling integrity, a kind husband and father, and a public-spirited citizen. During his long residence in Clinton he won the regard and friendship of all, and his death is mourned by many.

The deceased was a member of St. Edward's Council, Knights of Columbus, and of the Modern Woodmen, the Modern Brotherhood, and the Independent Order of Foresters.
