DeWitt, Sept. 11 -- Thomas Hines of North DeWitt, who has been in failing health for the past two years and confined to his bed for the last three months passed away at 6:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the effects of pernicious anemia, aged 76 years. He has been a resident of this county since early manhood, living first on his farm southwest of DeWitt and afterwards moving to town. He is survived by two daughters, Misses Nora and Mary Hines, living at home and two brothers, William and John Hines.

Page 3The funeral of the late Thomas Hines was held last Saturday at 10 o'clock a.m. from St. Joseph's church of which he had been a most faithful and consistent member for many years. Father J. G. Nelson was chief celebrant and was assisted by Rev. Father Riordon of Grand Mound and Rev. Thomas O'Dowd of Petersville. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery beside his wife who died several years ago.
Mr. Hines was born in Ireland in 1846 and came to America when a boy. He was a good citizen, a kind husband and father and a man who was highly respected in this community.
He is survived by two daughters, Nora and Mary, and one sister, Mrs. Katharine Flannery, of Tipton, who was present at the funeral, and two half brothers, William and John Hines. The pall-berrers were William Tumpane, James Thornton, E ? McManus, John Melka, James Gil? and Frank Byrne.
