Death visited the home of Elwood F. Emery Saturday evening and summoned that old and respected resident of this city. The announcement of Mr. Emery's death will come as a surprise to many of his friends as he was upon the street but a few days ago and although his death was expected hourly for several days few knew of his illness. The death occurred at 5:30 o'clock. Mr. Emery was driving last Tuesday when he caught a cold which rapidly developed into pneumonia.
The deceased was 70 years and 25 days old and has been a resident of Iowa 22 years, most of which time he has lived in this city. He was a veteran of the Civil war having served with honor in the 92d mounted infantry of the U. S. He was a member of N. B. Baker post of this city. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss.
