The Clinton Herald Monday March 8, 1915 p 6 Milan D. Baker, an aged resident of Clinton and an old soldier, died at about 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Agatha hospital, as a result of a stroke of apoplexy and exposure, suffered Thursday night when he fell in the back yard of his home, unconscious and was buried in the snow before he was found after more than four hours of exposure. Mr. Baker, who resided in the rear of a building at 129 Sixth avenue, disappeared from his home about 9 o'clock Thursday night. Neighbors instituted a search and finally summoned the police. Night Captain of Police Peter Oster and officer Walton responded and continued the search. It was not until about 1:30 o'clock Friday morning that the aged man was found in the back yard, lying on the ground and nearly buried under the falling snow. He had suffered a stroke and fell in the yard, unable to regain the house. When found he was unconscious and was taken in the city ambulance to Agatha hospital where every effort was made to save his life. He never regained consciousness, however, up to the time of his death Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Baker hade gone to a Salvation Army meeting Thursday evening, leaving Mr. Baker at home alone. It had been the custom of the two to attend meetings, but Mr. Baker did not go Thursday night. Apparently he had started for a drug store, when he suffered the stroke of apoplexy, and in falling injured a leg. Search for the aged man, who was 73 years of age this month was instituted by Mrs. Louis Matthews, a neighbor, when Mr. Baker failed to return late in the evening. Following the death of Mr. Baker, the case was referred to Dr. C.F. Kellogg, coroner who decided no inquest was necessary.
