The Clinton Herald Monday April 25, 1921 p 6 William Brown passed away at his home on Elm street at 4 o'clock this morning, following a stroke of paralysis. The deceased was about 75 years of age and a veteran of the Civil war serving in the Co. B., U.S. Colored Light Artillery. He was a member of the General N.B. Baker post of the G.A.R. He is survived by a son, Duke, of Chicago and two grandsons. His wife preceded him in death some years ago. He had been retired from active work for a number of years. Funeral services have not been arranged yet pending the arrival of the son from Chicago, but will be announced later.
