REV. FATHER McGINNIS
Passes Away at Mercy Hospital -- An Aged Priest.
Since Mercy Hospital was established Rev. Father McGinnis, a priest aged nearly eighty, had been in charge as the spiritual head of it. He came here from Quigley, which charge he had had until coming to Clinton.
He was apparently in robust health for one of his age, until Monday evening, when he had a violent hemorage, resulting in his demise Tuesday morning.
He had traveled over much of the world during his long life in the priesthood, at one time being located in Australia.
The time for the obsequies were not arranged until Rev. Father Murray came home from Dubuque on a late train last evening.

A PRIEST'S FUNERAL
Last Sad Rites Over Rev. Father McGinnis' Remains.
The funeral obsequities of the Rev. P. M. McGinnis were carried out with all the solemn empressed ? of the Roman ritual, in the chapel of Mercy Hospital, yesterday morning. Sharply at 10 o'clock. A large number of supliced priests filed into the chapel in twos, deviding as they reached the altar's foot. Having taking their position on either side of the casket, two chanters - Rev. Wm. Desmond of Dubuque and Rev. J. A. Shulte of Lyons, entoned the opening psalm of the 'office for the dead'. This was taken up alternately by two groups of priests who formed the choir. When the office of Matens and lands were over, requiem high mass commenced, officers of which were: Rev. Father Wrenn, deacon; Rev. Father Hanfield, sub-deacon; and Rev. Father O'Dowd, master of ceremonies. At the close of the mass Rev. Father Bowen preached a very touching discourse on the aged, deceased priest, after which Rev. Father McLaughlin, accompanied by two priest in sable black, pronounced the absolution.
The ceremonies on the whole were very impressive and were attended by every priest in Clinton county.
Noticeable among the many who attended the funeral were some from Quigley, where Father McGinnis held his last charge as assistant pastor.
The burial occurred at St. Mary's cemetery and the cortege which followed the remains to their last resting place was composed of a long line of carriages and many grateful friends. The pall bearers were Messrs. Peter Murphy, P. Behan, Thos. C. Dolan, W. T. Williams, Joe Winters and Ed. Burke.
