Anne M. Mardorf, 74, of Waverly, Iowa passed away after living with Parkinsons for 13 years on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, Iowa.
Anne Marie Mardorf was born on November 11, 1942, the daughter of Herbert and Elsie (Fuhrmann) Hartmann in Clinton, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Elvira High School in 1960 and then attended Wartburg College, graduating in 1964 with a degree in business education. On August 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Paul Mardorf at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Anne was a business teacher at Jesup High School for one semester, at Clarksville High School from fall of 1964 thru spring of 1967.In the early 1980s she worked at the Waverly Municipal Utilities and then at the Waverly Health Center, retiring as CFO in January of 2005.
She was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where she also served as treasurer, church council member, Sunday school teacher and served on several committees. Anne was also a member of the TTT, Calico Christmas, AAUW and several card clubs. Her nimble and talented fingers earned her success with piano, baton twirling, shorthand and typing in early years, and sewing, accounting, clever poems and needle work later on…
Survivors are her husband, Paul Mardorf of Waverly, Iowa; three daughters, Lynne (Steve) Ruschill of Lenexa, Kansas, Julie (David) Bridges of West Branch, Iowa and Sara (Travis) Nuss of Waverly, Iowa; eight grandchildren; brother, Tom (Susan) Hartmann of Bellevue, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Hartmann of DeWitt, Iowa and Carol (Dennis) Harms of Corvallis, Oregon; and brother-in-law, Allen (Dean Spong) Mardorf of Ranchero Mariposa, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David and Paul (infant) Hartmann; sister-in-law, Linda Hartmann and by a nephew, Bill Hartmann.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly with Pastor Nancy Larson officiating. Burial will follow in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bartels Aspen Cottage Assisted Memory Care or Wartburg College (Mardorf Family Scholarship) and online condolences for Anne Mardorf may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
