Jean F. Smith, 90, of rural DeWitt, passed away, Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Serenity Hospice House Phoenix, Arizona.
Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Dierks, Jim Dierks, Donnie Schmidt, Duane Schmidt, Gary Downey, and Doug Smith. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Jean Frances Dierks was born on June 15, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Bernice (Beecher) Dierks. She was a graduate of St. Marys High School. She married Herbert H. Smith on December 29, 1946 in Clinton; he died August 21, 2001.
Jean was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress for the Frontier for over 30 plus years. She was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed dancing, spending time at her place in Arizona, playing Mexican train dominos, and playing on her I-pad.
Jean is survived by her daughter: Connie (Lloyd) Jarrett of Clinton, two sons: Ron (Mary) Smith of Goose Lake, and Rick Smith of Boca Raton, Florida; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; her sister: Susie (Larry) Judd of Clinton; and her brother: James (Dalia) Dierks of Glendale, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson: Aaron, great-grandson: Hunter, two brothers, and two sisters.
