Barbara A. Junck, 85, of Camanche, passed away, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Alverno.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Barbara Ann Perschy was born on April 4, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary (O'Neil) Perschy. She was a 1950 graduate of Sioux City Heelan High School. After graduation her first job was as typist at St Vincent School of Nursing. Later worked at Bell Telephone Company in Sioux City, transferred to Hampton, Virginia and then to San Jose California, working as a long distance operator for the Bell system. She married her childhood friend Jack E. Junck on April 30, 1955 in Sioux City; he died November 28, 2007. They lived and worked in Sioux City, Jack for Swift & Co, and her for the telephone company, until Jack transferred in 1970 to the Swift plant in Clinton.
They settled in Camanche, Iowa. She was a past member of the Camanche Mardi Gras committee, helped Jack with Camanche Days, past president of the Camanche PTO, and worked several years at the voting polls in Camanche. She enjoyed reading, cooking, loved being with family and was a New York Yankees fan.
Barb is survived by a son: Steven Junck of Camanche; two daughters: Ann (Jim) Ferrell of Camanche, and Carol (Tony) Hunter of Camanche; three grandchildren: Christopher Ferrell, Erika and Paige Hunter; and one great-grandson: Kylan Patterson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: John, Glen, and Eugene.
Memorials can be made to the Church of the Visitation or the Alverno.
