Wayne W. Wiersema 75 of Camanche, passed away Saturday April 15, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center in Dewitt. Visitation will be held Saturday April 22nd from 2 - 5 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Family requests all friends feel free to dress in one of Wayne's favorite sports team during the visitation. Following the visitation, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
Wayne was born on July 6, 1941 in Clinton, the son of Clarence and Goldie (Mason) Wiersema. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1959. He was a veteran with the US National Guard. He married Virginia Werner in June of 1981 in Camanche; she died in 2005. He worked for A.D.M. (Clinton Corn) for over 47 years as a process operator; retiring in 2007. Wayne was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks fan and an Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed fishing and visiting with his friends.
Wayne is survived by his two children, Christy (Craig) Hagemeier of DeKalb, IL and Troy (Cinda) Wiersema of Fulton, IL; three step-children, Terry Stevens of Clinton, Dale Stevens of Denver, CO, and Scott Gregory of Clinton; four grandchildren and four step grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, step-son, and a sister.
