Joan Schoenig, 87, of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kurt Behrens, Joshua Engelkins, Kevin Carson, Jason Johnson, Mark Dreger, and Adam Buchcuski. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences maybe expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Joan Heath was born on November 22, 1929 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Amanda (Mueller) Heath. She was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School. She married LeRoy Schoenig, Jr. on October 23, 1949 in Clinton; he recently passed away on January 29, 2017.
Joan was a homemaker. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed bowling, loved music especially performing with her husband Leroy as the Mad Hatters at local nursing homes, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a lady of fashion with her glasses, hats, and leopard print clothing.
Joan is survived by 3 daughters: Sue (Dick) Ostert of Maquoketa, Iowa; Sandy (Mark) Dreger of Weston, Wisconsin and Sheila (Kevin) Carson of Savannah, Georgia; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lorraine Ohrt of Clinton and Shirley Mohr of Clinton. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
