Ronald "Ron" J. Kyarsgaard, 90, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center - North Campus on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a Memorial service taking place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will occur at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Ron was born February 24, 1927 in Jackson County, the son of John and Alice (Everson) Kyarsgaard. He was a 1944 graduate of Elwood High School. Ron married his High School sweetheart, Doris Irwin, on November 14, 1945 in Clinton - almost 72 years together.

Ron was a lifelong member of the Jehovah's Witness. Ron started Kyarsgaard Construction in 1966, officially retiring in 2000 after 34 years.

Ron's priorities were always his family first and then his business. He was a very skilled and talented carpenter. His business meant everything to him, working long hours to provide for his family and even working after his "official retirement". As time passed, his patient guidance led him to teach the carpenter trade and business to his two grandsons. Later in life he became very interested in railroad history, trains and railways. Above all he loved his family very much, especially later in life visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Doris of Clinton; two daughters - Becky (James) Sayers of Lincoln, NE and Ronna (Robert) Riedesel of Clinton, IA; one son - Michael (Mindy) Kyarsgaard of Clinton, IA; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers - Milton Kyarsgaard of Delmar, IA and Victor (Mary) Kyarsgaard of Lake Luzerne, NY, with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents and one brother Dean.
