William H. Simon, 75, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics - Iowa City, Iowa.
Private Services will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A celebration of Willie's life for family, invited friends, former railroaders and golfing friends will be held at the Downtown Pub 102 West Gillet - Preston, Iowa at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017. William Harold Simon was born on March 29, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Willie and Helen (Mahmens) Simon. He was a 1959 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Carol Obermiller on June 30, 1962 in Clinton.
William worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 32 ½ years in the car shop as a welder and retired in 1995 as an inspector.
William enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was an avid Chicago Bulls, White Sox and Bears fan.
William is survived by his wife: Carol of Clinton; three children: Kim Fullick of Clinton, Kevin (Kim) Simon of Camanche, and Jennifer Fullick of Clinton; seven grandchildren; Josh, Adam (Chelsea), Kristin,Kyle (Allysa), Austin, Kenny (Jen), and Stephanie (Adam), 12 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Seth, Dylan, Jace, Makenzie, Peyton, Landyn, Prestyn, Brooklyn, Aydin, Ashtyn, and Chandler; two brothers: Michael Simon of Chicago, Illinois and Robert (Sandy) Simon of Magnolia, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Linda.
