Paul E. "Bing" Nielsen age 84 of Low Moor, passed away Wednesday March 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday 2 - 5 PM at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Casket bearers and honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Paul was born on Dec. 29, 1932 in Low Moor, IA, the son of Alvin and Ethel (Hall) Nielsen. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1951. He served with the US Air Force from 1952-1956 and retired from the Reserves in 1960. Paul married Bernice Latimer on Jan. 27, 1955 in Low Moor. He worked as a machine operator with E.I. DuPont, Clinton. Paul enjoyed collecting HO Scale Trains, reading, and working on lawn mowers.

Paul is survived by his wife, Bernice Nielsen of Low Moor; five children, Brenda Jo (Brian) Melby of Tarpon Springs, FL, Bruce (Tami) Nielsen of Clinton, Brent Nielsen of Low Moor, Teresa Rowson of Low Moor, and Grant (Darla Hoerner) Nielsen of Grand Mound; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Paul was the last surviving member of the Alvin and Ethel Nielsen family.
