Santiago "Jim" Garcia, 81, of Camanche passed away, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics - Iowa City.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be at a later date in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service at Hide Inn - Camanche. Jim Garcia was born November 27, 1935 in Alice, Texas, the son of Jesus and Maria Virgen (Garza) Garcia. He graduated from Alice High School in 1954. He married Janice Kuehl on February 7, 1959 in Clinton, Iowa. He later married Maxine Stearns on February 3, 1990. She passed away on May 20, 2000.

He worked for Carstensen for 20 years. He and his wife Maxine operated the Hide Inn. He belonged to the Eagle's Club and AMVETS. He loved his daily tours, sports, Miller Lite, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Patricia and Edwards Stearns of Camanche, Iowa, Julie (Rod) Arends of O'Fallon, Missouri, Michael (Shawnda) Garcia of Tucson, Arizona, Mitchell (Lakeisha) Garcia of Frisco, Texas, Susan (Martin) Milder of Camanche, Ella (Kip) Opheim of Camanche, Judy Alm of Camanche, Robert (Roxann) Stearns of Camanche, Thomas (Sondra) Stearns of Camanche and Kenneth (Janice) Stearns of Richmond, Virginia; one brother, Eleazar (Belinda) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters: Mary Frost of Pasadena, Texas, Delia Cruz of San Antonio, Texas, Casilda Reyna of Alice Texas and Dalia (Doug) Gearhart of Willard, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, his parents, one sister, Elida Rodriguez, two brothers, Nino Garcia and Jesse Garcia and two daughters, Kimberly and Kate.
