Lori Sue (Hoffman) Gerardy, age 52 of Preston, died Monday February 27th at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, as a result of a head injury from a fall. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 3rd at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Preston. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Thursday, March 2nd at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Preston. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Lori was born on January 10, 1965 in Clinton, the daughter of Larry and Lois (Yaddof) Hoffman. She attended Preston High School and graduated with the class of 1984. After graduation Lori worked at Mercy Hospital in Clinton. She also worked as a CNA at Crestridge in Maquoketa and at the DeWitt hospital. She was married in 1987 and lived in Maquoketa, IA and later moved to Preston, IA.

Her first child Alissa Lynn was born in 1990 followed by Matthew John in 1992. Lori was always smiling and loved her family more than anything, including her four grand dogs; Titan, Claire, Moose and Luna. She cared about everyone who was a part of her life. She was a wonderful godmother to Lance and aunt to Lance, Bree, Brooke, Garrett and Grace. Lori had a big heart and could be counted on to remember birthdays, anniversaries and the names of everyone's children, grandchildren and pets. She was always there to help when needed.

Lori was a cancer survivor and a die-hard Hawkeye fan. She loved to play cards, especially spades, and loved to watch Days of our Lives and Wheel of Fortune, which she was the best at. We will miss her banana bread, pumpkin and cornflake cookies, but most of all we will miss her!

Lori is survived by her two children, Alissa (Adam) Gudenkauf of Canton, IA and Matthew Gerardy of Preston, IA; her parents, Larry and Lois Hoffman of Preston; and her sister Lisa (Greg) Feller of Pekin, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Aloysius and Magdalena Hoffman and Norma and Elmer Yaddof Sr., and a sister Linda Bormann who met her with open arms in heaven.
