John R. Gladhill, 81, of Camanche, passed away, Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics - Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the First Baptist Church - Camanche. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00-7:00pm at the First Baptist Church - Camanche. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com. John Richard Gladhill was born on September 9, 1935 in Clinton, the son of John W. and Joan (Staben) Gladhill. He was a 1953 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Betty Mathias on September 3, 1954 in Clinton; she died January 22, 2013.
John managed the Pennsylvania Tire Company for 16 years, later was in sales for KC Snyder in Houston, and drove the school bus for the Clinton Community School District.
John was a member of First Baptist Church - Camanche, enjoyed bowling, golfing, pitching horseshoes, reading westerns, putting together puzzles, and going to the casino.
John is survived by his son: Dennis Gladhill of Hiawatha, two sisters: Mitzi Dorathy and Janice Dunn of Camanche; three nieces: Belinda (Al) Sullivan, Brenda Dunn, and Jolene Decker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a daughter-in-law.
