The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, February 3, 1888

Mr. George Washington, one of the best known colored citizens of this city, died on Monday. For many years he was in employ of Mr. W. J. Young & Co. Last fall he was engaged in bailing mill wood, and being out in several rain storms, he caught cold which settled in his lung, consumption followed and he died. He enjoyed the confidence of all who knew him.
