The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, March 18, 1887

The news of the sudden death at Des Moines of Mrs. Lucy A. Collins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Brayton of Lyons, came like a shock to a large community of friends and acquaintances of the family. The remains were brought to Lyons and the funeral occurred from the residence of her parents on Sunday afternoon – Rev. H. A. Shorey officiating. The deceased leaves one son to mourn a mother’s loss. She was a lady of refinement and culture and in her home in Des Moines she surrounded herself with friends gathered from the best society of that city. She was about forty years old and for some years had been engaged in teaching a kindergarten school in Des Moines.
