The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 9, 1885

Dr. C. W. Paxson one of the oldest Clinton physicians, died in his rooms in Mrs. Traver’s boarding house, Monday evening at 5:30 o’clock. Deceased had been ailing for some time previous to his death, but was not confined to his bed but little over a week. His brothers in Kansas and Dakota were telegraphed. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon and the remains were interred in a lot furnished by George Bryant, Esq.

Dr. W. C. Paxson was born in Ohio in 1831 and was at the time of his death 54 years of age. He leaves no family and no relatives save two brothers, one in Kansas and the other in Dakota. Deceased served in the late war as a surgeon and since 1864 Dr. Paxson has been a practicing physician in this city and until within a few years had a large practice, but ill health and other reasons caused him in a measure to give up his practice.
