Last Friday afternoon Samuel Goldie, a well to do an esteemed farmer residing near DeWitt, committed suicide by hanging himself to the railing of his stairway at his house. The cause of the rash act is laid to a mental aberration which has been growing on Mr. Goldie for a year past. At the time of his death he was about 57 years of age. He was one of the territorial settlors of Iowa and has lived in this county since he first came to this state.
