Widmer, Pamela Sue 1954-2017

Williamsburg-Pamela Sue Widmer was born May 17, 1954 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Helen (Schmidt) Niebuhr. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1972 and the University of Iowa in 1976 with a BS in Nursing. Pam was united in marriage to Kenton John Widmer on August 21, 1976 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Clinton. To this union they were blessed with two sons. Pam truly enjoyed her work as a nurse. She was currently a Staff Nurse at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa River Landing Procedure Unit. She also had worked at Marengo Memorial Hospital, Galesburg Cottage Hospital, and Ohio State university Hospital where she received the Annual Excellence in Clinical Nursing Award. Pam's Christian faith has continued to grow until the end. She was currently a member of the West Union Mennonite Church and previously the United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois. Over the years she served on many various church committees. Pam died peacefully at her home in Williamsburg, on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the age of 62 years after a 20 month struggle with ovarian cancer, which she battled with courage and grace.

She is survived by her husband Kent of 40 years; a son: Josh Widmer of Williamsburg; her parents: Eugene and Helen Niebuhr of Clinton; a sister: Barb (Dan) Jepsen of Port Byron, IL; two brothers: Larry (Pam) Niebuhr of Eldridge and Jeff (Sharon) Niebuhr of Clinton; along with sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Joel Widmer in February 2014.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the West Union Mennonite Church rural Parnell. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials may be made in memory of Pam to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Crooked Creek Christian Camp or West Union Mennonite Church.
