Gladys Irene Swan, 80, of DeWitt, Iowa, died early Thursday morning, January 26, 2017, at Crestridge Care Center, Maquoketa.
She was born March 9, 1936, in Iowa City to Ralph and Alice (Manwarren) Pridemore. Gladys was employed by Collis Company, Neilson Coupon and Swift & Company in Clinton. She married Dale Broughton in Tipton, Iowa, and later married Paul Swan February 2, 1979, in Morrison, Illinois.
Gladys was baptized at First Baptist Church in Camanche. She later attended God's Family Baptist Church, Grand Mound. Gladys was a member of AARP and Quest.
Surviving are daughters, Rene (Ron) Eggers of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Cheryl Bogart of Lawson, Missouri, Paula Carter of Orrick, Missouri and Alicia (Mike) Burken of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Israel Eggers, Tim Broughton, Jessie Gambilin, Dylan Bogart, Katie Burken, Tom Burken and Bobby Burken; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry (Janelle) Pridemore of Clinton, Elaine (Jim) McMann of Duluth, Minnesota, Zelda Boles of Chattanooga, Tennessee, RuthAnn (Allen) Marshall and Ellen (Stuart) LeBeau of Pierre, South Dakota; nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gladys in death were her husband, Paul on March 12, 1993; her parents; a grandson, Jacob Burken; a sister, ElWanda LeBeau and brothers, Melvin, Jerry and Shamus Pridemore.
Visitation will be at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt with burial to follow.
