The Clinton Age, Clinton, Iowa, January 14, 1876

Accidental Death – Mr. Samuel Dean, a mechanic living on Sixth Avenue near Second Street, who had been a resident of this city for the past ten years, died last week Tuesday from the effect of an overdose of laudanum, taken, as supposed, to counteract a growing appetite for liquor.
