DIED
On Tuesday evening May 19th at 8:30 o’clock, Bessie, only surviving daughter of Henry and Esther F. Sabin, aged 11 years and 2 months.
Words cannot utter the grief caused by this bereavement. She was a precious child of rare promise. Like some sweet opening flower, she scattered joy and fragrance about her. In the dear home in which she gave so much sunlight, she was at once pet and companion. Equally fond of play and study, she was a delight of both teacher and schoolmates.
On Monday morning she was suddenly smitten with meningitis and from the first was delirious. Very early in her brief illness she said with an anxious face, “How can I get pinions?” Her mother said, “What could you do with them, Bessie?” “How can I fly without them?” was her reply. The last words that she uttered were the prayers which she was went to offer. We fondly believe that her wish was gratified, and that her prayers were the pinions in which she rose to her angel life.
May the bereaved find comfort in the faith that she is with that blessed Savior who in his earthy life took little ones in his arms, laid his hands upon them, and blessed them with Him in that better land, whose crystal waters bordered with the tree of life, so far excel the beauties of nature which she loved so well, below that land which gathers all earth’s fair flowers to bloom un—dingly. Of such is the kingdom of Heaven.
