Died

In this city, Jan. 14th, of paralysis, Mr. A. T. Wheeler, aged 77 years. He was a native of New York; in early manhood, after admission to the bar, came west to Wisconsin, and in 1861 to Lyons, where he has since resided and practiced law. With him came his wife and stepson, Herbert Sykes; and after her death he married, Miss Mattie Tripp, who also died in early life. Mr. Wheeler was prominent, able and influential in his profession and in politics; was City Attorney for several years, and County Attorney for a term not long ago.

His funeral was held Wednesday, with services by Rev. C. W. Tyler, and burial at Oakland. A sister and sister-in-law, Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Wheeler were out from Chicago to attend the funeral; his associates from the bar in a body; the Lyons volunteer firemen and a detachment of the Root Drill Corp.

A bar meeting was held at the court house on the 17th, at which remarks eulogistic of Mr. Wheeler were made by several attorneys.
