John E. Hulten Jr., 71, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on Monday, December 12, 2016. Honoring his wishes cremation rites have been accorded with a celebration of his life taking place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

John was born November 14, 1945 in Clinton, Iowa the son of John Sr. and Betty (Hendricks) Hulten. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. Following High School he joined the U.S. Navy and upon a significant promotion became a Medic in the U.S. Marine Corp, serving during the Vietnam War as a frontline Medic. During his service he received the Purple Heart.

John was united in marriage to Janeen Lawlor on March 12, 1966 - they would later divorce. John was an avid Historian and loved to read.

John is survived by his daughter - Jennifer (Jeff) Naeve of DeWitt, IA; one son - Scott (Jill) Hulten of La Grange Park, Il; four grandchildren and his ex-wife Janeen Naeve of Andover.

Preceding John in death were his parents and one sister.
