MICHAEL LEE ZUIDEMA, 53, of the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Ken Renkes. A memorial visitation will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2017 until the time memorial service. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL.

Mike was born November 23, 1963 in Clinton, IA to David L. and Judith A. (Rasmussen) Zuidema. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1981. Mike had been employed by Jewel-Osco Grocery Stores for 33 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler and participated in various tournaments across the country. Mike was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and it was a huge joy for him to finally get to see the Cubs win the World Series. A memorial to the JDRF - Junior Diabetes Research Foundation - has been established.

Survivors include his mother, Judith Locey of Cordova, IL; one grandmother: Irene Dyke of Morrison,IL; one sister, Jennifer (James) Hatfield of Hampton, IL; three brothers, Kevin Zuidema of Clinton, IA, Edward Zuidema of Fulton, IL and Curtis (Jennifer) Locey of Bettendorf; one step mother, Joan Zuidema of Morrison, IL; three step sisters, Dory Locey of Clinton, IA, Kay Hoogerwerf, and Tracy Ziegenhorn, both of Peoria, IL; three step brothers, Monte Locey of Clinton, IA, Dan (Kelli) Stanton of South Padre Island, TX, Steve (Moira) Stanton of Cibalo, TX and several aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, David L. Zuidema; his step father, Cecil Locey; his grandfather, Elmer Zuidema.
