Barbara J. Turner, 65, of Fulton, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center - North, Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Dietz, James Dietz, Tim Dietz, Zachery Hamm, Alexander Hamm, and Glenn Hager. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00am to the service time at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara Jo Dietz was born on November 8, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Lucille (Biermann) Dietz. She was a 1969 graduate of Fulton High School and later graduated from Clinton Community College. She married Robert Turner on August 13, 1983 at Zion Lutheran Church - Clinton.
After graduating high school in 1969, Barb moved to Washington, DC to work for the FBI as a clerk-typist for several years. Upon return she worked a few years at Grant's department store, and a short time at Klein's Department Store. In 1976 Barb was hired by Jane Lamb Hospital and was currently a financial analyst at Mercy Medical Center for the past 40 years.
Barb was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served on many committees, was on the church council for several years and currently served as its treasurer for the past 15 years. She also served as treasurer for the Zion Women of the ELCA. Outside of work and church she loved to read & visit her daughter Amber in Wisconsin.
Barb is survived by her husband: Bob of Fulton; her daughter: Amber Turner of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; her mother: Lucille Dietz of Fulton; her siblings: John (Mary Jo Dykstra) Dietz of Clinton, Trish (Dave) Shear of Fulton, Mike Dietz of Fulton, and Kathy (Rod) Hamm of Fulton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Robert, brothers: Bob and Tom; and her grandparents.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Library.
