Vincent J. Stierman, 92, of Clinton passed away, Friday, December 30, 2016 at Mercy Living Center South - Clinton.

Graveside service and burial will be at a later date at the Linwood Cemetery in Dubuque Iowa. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with the cremation. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com.

Vincent John Stierman was born August 22, 1924 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Vincent P. and Marie E. (Toussaint) Stierman. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High, he fought in World War II with the U.S. Army (1943-1945). He earned a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. He married Joan Phillips, his high school sweetheart, on June 7, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa.

He managed Roehl-Phillips furniture store in Clinton for 27 years. Vince worked another 18 years for R.G. Dickinson, a brokerage firm, and retired in 1999.

Vincent was a long-term member and a past president of the Clinton Public Library Board and a member and past president of the Clinton Art Association. He loved to cook, eat, write, paint, listen to music (Sinatra, jazz, classical) watch movies, play tennis and golf, travel internationally, and read (especially mysteries, history, and fiction). One of his favorite pastimes was discussing art and architecture with his friend architect Phil Feddersen.

He is survived by his wife Joan Stierman of Clinton; six children: Tara (Alvin) Robbins of La Jolla, California, Jama Priscella of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Stacy (Kim) Stierman of Des Moines, Iowa, John Stierman of Macomb, Illinois, Matthew (Tricia) Stierman of Omaha, Nebraska and Adam Stierman of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren: Sam and Emma Priscella, Vince and Lauren Stierman and Dinah Robbins; and one brother: Ty (Judy) Stierman of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Vincent was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
