Shirley F. (Mrs. George) Gramer, 87, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Mercy Living Center-North. Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time on Thursday. A private ceremony and burial will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Online condolences may be left at papefh.com. Shirley Fay Steiner was born in DeWitt, Iowa, May 21, 1929, to Fay and Edna (Levsen) Steiner. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Clinton County. She graduated from Lyons Senior High School in 1947 and from Jane Lamb Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. On Sept. 24, 1950, Shirley married George Gramer and they raised three sons. Shirley worked as a Registered Nurse and later, for the Visiting Nurse Association in Clinton. Shirley was a long time member of Community Congregational Church. Shirley is survived by her three sons, George Gramer Jr., Denver, Colorado; Gary (Lisa) Gramer, Gallatin Gateway, Montana; Kevin (Rhonda) Gramer, Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, Corey Gramer, Jason DuFeu, Emily Gramer, Drew Gramer and Brian Gramer; two great-grandchildren, Aiden DuFeu and Paxton DuFeu; and sister-in-law, Juanita Steiner, Clinton. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Edna Steiner; her husband, George Gramer Sr.; brothers, Rodney Steiner and Darrell Steiner; and her sister, Patricia Dahl. The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses, CNAs, aides, therapists and hospice caregivers at Mercy Living Center-North. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Home Care and Hospice.
