The Clinton Herald Wednesday February 14, 1945 p 8 Henry Joseph Specht, 78, senior partner in the Sprecht Leather Goods store, died last night at 10:15 in Mercy hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is in the Delaney funeral home. Mr. Specht was born Oct. 8, 1866, in Nackenheim, near Mains, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Specht. He came to the United States in August 1880, when he was 14 years old and lived for a time in Bellevue with his uncle, Phil Specht. He was married to Lenora Bahrenfus April 4, 1880, in Clinton. From then until 1897 he wss employed by the Clinton Saddlery company. He then went into business for himself as proprietor of the Specht Leather Goods store on South Second street. His son later became a partner in the business. He was a charter member of the Clinton Turner society. He is survived by his wife, one son, Ben Specht, and a granddaughter, Jean, all of Clinton. His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
