Virginia “Ginny” A. Thomas, age 91, of Clinton, IA and Owatonna, MN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Clinton. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Pape Funeral Home, in Clinton. A luncheon will follow at the Community Congregational Church. Ginny was born in Witt, IL on July 27, 1925, the daughter of Andrew and Anne (Battiste) Rushford. She married Stephen B. Thomas on February 19, 1949 in Pekin, IL. Steve passed away on June 5, 1996. She was a member of the Associated Church in Owatonna and attended the First United Methodist Church while in Clinton. Ginny was a Josten’s wife, entertaining business associates alongside her husband. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, gardening, baking, entertaining, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Ginny is survived by her daughter and companion, Nancy Thomas of Clinton, IA; a granddaughter, Ketty Martens Huggins of St. Paul, MN; three great grandchildren, Emily Anne “Emmy”, Stephen Anthony “Tony”, and Evelyn Kathleen “Evie”; her sister, Gloria (Joe) Mayer of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, her son-in-law, Ed (Libby) Martens of Rochester, MN, and nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve, her daughter, Kathy Martens in 2001, and two brothers, Bob and George. Memorials may be made to the Owatonna Foundation, 108 West Park Square, Owatonna, MN 55060 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
