Leonard J. Dunlavey, 87, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, October 31, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, with a vigil service at 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Fr. Paul Connolly officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Leonard Joseph Dunlavey was born November 3, 1928, to Ethel (Thiessen) and Michael Dunlavey in Goose Lake, Iowa. On April 20, 1950, Leonard was united in marriage to Lois Galloway at St. Ann Catholic Church, Welton. The couple farmed at Welton until retiring to DeWitt. Lois preceded him in death on July 12, 2011.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and later St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Welton Volunteer Fire Department and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing cards and puzzles.

Surviving are children and their spouses, Teresa and Michael Bonertz of Menasha, Wisconsin, Pat and Rita Dunlavey of Charlotte, Iowa, and Mike and Chris Dunlavey of Lost Nation, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosemary Ledin.

In addition to his wife, Leonard was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas.
