Veteran of Civil War Dies At Le Clair
William Franklin Marr Succumbs at Home of His Son.

William Franklin Marr, a veteran of the Civil War, living at LeClaire passed away at the home of his son, Isaac Marr, in LeClaire Saturday afternoon at the age of 79 years. For many years he farmed in that vicinity.
Deceased was born April 8, 1844 in Canada and came to Sterling, Jackson county, Iowa with his parents in 1851 when a small boy. He received his education in the schools at Sterling and was married there to Miss Margaret J. Viall.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and served for eighteen months in Company A, Iowa Infantry, during the Civil war, and was an active member of the G. A. R.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Meyers of Clinton, five sons. Frank, at Sabula, Iowa. George at Clinton, Iowa, Herbert, at Grand Mount, Iowa. William at Mount Carroll, Ill, and Isaac E. at LeClaire, Iowa.
The remains will be sent tomorrow morning at 7 o'clock to Sabula, over the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul road where services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church and interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery there.
