Jimmy A. Bartels age 73 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday Sept. 14, 2016 at the Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, IL. A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 20th at 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be held Monday Sept. 19th from 4 – 7 PM at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Terry Doescher, Norm and Brennan Weets, Justin Bartels, Lucas Cogil, and Richard Burlingame. Memorials may be given to Prince of Peace Building Fund or Alzheimer Association. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com. Jimmy was born on July 10, 1943 in Clinton, the son of Herbert and Elva (Rassmussen) Bartels. He was raised by his step-mother, Clara and father, Herbert. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1961. He married Mary Larson on Nov. 2, 1963 in Clinton. Jimmy worked at E.I. DuPont as a machine operator for over 38 years and with the Bartels Garage. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, and he especially loved his dogs. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary Bartels of Clinton; three daughters, Cathy Cogil of Madison, WI, Connie (Terry) Doescher of Clinton, and Cindy (Norm) Weets of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Justin, Kaylynn, Lindsay, Kelsey, Lucas, Shelby, Korie, Jayme, and Brennan; his great grandson, Mason; and a sister, Donna (Tom) Hueholt of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Clara.
