The Clinton Herald Thursday November 3, 1966 p. 17 Jack Gribbon, 49, Lost Nation farmer, was fatally injured Wednesday afternoon when his clothing caught in the power takeoff of a corn chopper. Authorities said he was killed instantly in the tragedy on the farm of his brother-in-law, Philip Wolfe, six miles southeast of here. Authorities said Gribbon's head was drawn into a pulley of the machine. His son, William, 4, who was with him at the time, ran to the house to summon help. The requiem mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic church at Lost Nation, with Rev. Paul Budreau officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Hanrahan funeral home at DeWitt where the parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Gribbon was born March 21, 1917 on a farm near DeWitt to William H. and Alice Redmond Gribbon. he was a veteran of World War II. He married Genevieve Elsner of Grand Mound Dec. 1, 1962. Survivors are the wife; the son and an daughter, Lisa, both at home; three step-daughters, Mrs. Margaret Burmeister of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Miss Linda and Miss Nancy DeMoss of Lost Nation; three sisters, Mrs. Wolfe of Lost Nation, Mrs. Mary McDonnell of DeWitt and Mrs. Lucille Gribbon of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and a brother, William of DeWitt.
