Jennifer J. Barnes Stanger, 41, of Wausau, WI, formerly of Clinton, died Monday April 25, 2016 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday May 4th, at the Pape Funeral Home, 2308 Pershing Blvd, Clinton, IA. Jenny Jean Barnes was born on November 11, 1974 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Gary and Marilyn (Mickey) Frederick Barnes. She attended the Clinton schools, graduating from Clinton High School in 1993. Jenny married Shane Stanger in 2005 and moved to Wisconsin to manage a resort on Pickerel Lake for six years. After her divorce, she moved to Wausau and began her brave, long battle with leukemia. Through her health struggles, she was always up-beat and smiling. She truly enjoyed living in her little house with her two pet huskies. Jenny had a keen wit, was an avid reader and loved sitting outside by the fire pit visiting with her great neighbors and family. Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, her brother Chad and his wife Rhoni Jo, her neice Gabriella, her nephew Grant, maternal grandmother Ramona Frederick, paternal grandmother LaVonne Barnes, aunts, uncles and several cousins and her special pets Mischief and Chaos. She was preceded in death by both her grandfathers, Harry E. Barnes and John A. Frederick. Jen was so thankful to all those that expressed such concern and care for her during her difficult health journey…especially her brother Chad for being her stem cell donor. In lieu of flowers, in appreciation the family will use compassionate discretion with any cards and monetary gifts.
