John P. “Jack” Smith age 89 of Clinton passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Private family services will be held Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home with burial in North Madison Pioneer Cemetery, Jones County, Iowa. Jack was born in Anamosa, Iowa on October 5, 1926, the son of Paul and Samara (Perrine) Smith. He graduated from Anamosa High School and received his degree in Agricultural Economics from Iowa State University in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Jack married Jody Wilkins on June 21, 1947 in Ames. He later married Bonnie Krabbenhoft on December 28, 2002 in DeWitt. Jack had farmed his families Century Farm in Jones County and later worked for the Farm Bureau from where he retired. He was a member of the Low Moor Lions Club. He loved golfing and fishing and was an avid reader. Jack is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Kimberlee (Timothy) Borman of Bay City, OR and Sabrina Bartruff of Fort Wright, KY; eight grandchildren, Windy, Skylar, McKenzie, Ian, Max, Tyler, Courtney and Mark and three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Billy and Sebastian.
