Ruby M. Johnson, 91, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center - North on Monday, April 18, 2016. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruby was born May 17, 1924 in Erie, Illinois the daughter of Mino and Nellie (Matson) Kamphuis. Ruby was united in marriage to Squire B. Johnson on May 23, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa.
Ruby was a homemaker and loved being a full-time mother. She also loved reading, she enjoyed word circle puzzle's, and she loved the outdoors, especially camping with her family. Ruby's love for her children was unconditional, especially when it came to her daughter Gail, who was diagnosed with Down's syndrome at an early age, and with whom Ruby spent most of her life caring for. She was known by many as "Sweet Ruby" because she was a mother to all children. Above all she loved her family very much especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family.
Ruby is survived by two daughters - Carol (Bruce) Rieck of Sabula, IA, Bonnie (Jon) Pillers of Clinton, IA; one son - Bert (Connie) Johnson of Phoenix , AZ; twelve grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, twenty great-great grandchildren; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and the many friends she met throughout her life.
Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, her husband, one daughter - Gail Lynn, one son - Gary Alan, one grandson - Bob; one granddaughter - Carrie; one great grandson - Jacob; one brother and one sister.
