Mr. Maynard H. Mangler, 80, of DeWitt, died Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport.
Maynard Henry Mangler was born March 25, 1936, at Green Island to Harry and Wilma (Potter) Mangler. He received his education in Green Island Schools. Maynard served in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in Germany. He farmed all of his life and worked at Caterpillar until retirement.
He was an extremely hard worker and loved the land that he farmed. Maynard enjoyed gardening, antique tractors and doing for others.
Surviving are nieces and nephews and their families, Sue and David Daniels of Miles, Calvin and Sandra Mangler of Oxford Junction, Sandy and Chuck Wieprecht of Quincy, Illinois and Tracy and Steve Martin of Maquoketa; a dear friend, Sue Tague and her family.
Preceding Maynard in death were his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Ivia and Billie Mangler.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28th at the Van Buren (Buckeye) Cemetery, rural Miles. Military rites and burial will follow.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Quad Cities Greyhound Adoption or Special Troopers Adaptive Riding School.
