Clarabell A. Birdsley age 86 of Clinton passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March28, 2016 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bill Geltz, Patrick Getz and Scott and Eric Birdsley. Clarabell was born in Clinton on November 12, 1929, the daughter of Lewis and Clara (Snart) Craft, Sr. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1947. Clarabell married Chester Birdsley on January 8, 1949 in Clinton. Chester passed away on May 15, 2012. She had been employed with McFarland Photography, as an operator with Northwestern Bell, a cook at Sarah Harding Home and at Clinton High School and later was a custodian at Horace Mann School. She was a member of Community Congregational Church, UCC and had done volunteer work at the Camanche Meal Site. Clarabell enjoyed bowling, playing cards, traveling with her husband and nature. Clarabell is survived by three children; Alice (John) Keller of Davenport, Steven (Diane) Birdsley and Sheila (Bill) Geltz both of Clinton, six grandchildren; Katrina Keller, Jessica (Patrick) Getz, Amanda (Tom) Morrison, Eric Birdsley, Scott (Elizabeth) Birdsley and Ashley (Ryan Schuetzle) Geltz, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters; Virginia, Lois and Beverly, and a brother Lewis. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Humane Society.
