Mrs. Irene E. Kelly of Eldridge, formerly of Naples, Florida, died peacefully on March 2, 2016, at her apartment at Grand Haven Retirement Community following a short illness. She was 92 years young and enjoyed life to its fullest.

Irene was the only daughter of Gus and Ernestine Block. She grew up on the family farm north of Grand Mound where she graduated from high school. She married Robert Kelly, also from Grand Mound, and together they raised two boys, Jim and Dick, both of DeWitt. Irene and Bob both worked for and retired from the Union Savings Bank of Grand Mound where Bob was President and Irene was Vice President of Operations. They retired to Naples in the early 70's and Bob died in 1988. Irene moved back to Iowa two years ago.

Family and friends were Irene's passion and delight. She loved to host and entertain, play cards and enjoyed golf. Irene was especially fond of her new friends at Grand Haven and enjoyed the last two years being closer to her family.

In addition to her two sons, Irene is survived by grandchildren, Kari (Kelly) Bernard, Jack Kelly, Jeff Castro and five great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her at Grand Haven and to her friends both new and old who she loved to spend time with.
