David William Dawson was born on February 24, 1935 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Lois (Haring) Dawson. He was a 1953 graduate of DeWitt High School. He married Donna Moore on January 16, 1954. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

David was well known for helping others. His carpentry skills were phenomenal, he could build anything you needed. You can see evidence of his skills throughout Camanche. He built his own house and both the houses that his children live in, he even built one of the campers that he and Donna camped in. He loved fishing, wood carving, and painting. He didn’t like to be still and enjoyed being outside.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Donna of Camanche, one daughter: Diane (Joe) Kremlacek of Yutan, Nebraska; one son: Dan (Pat) Dawson of Princeton, Iowa; one grandson: Michael Cain of Camanche; one sister Ruth (Mike) Wiedeman of Clinton; his beloved dog Sassy; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorials may be made to Living Lands and Water.
