FORMER DUBUQUER
DIED AT LYONS, IA.
~
SISTER MARY CHRISTIANA DIES
SUDDENLY THURSDAY
AFTERNOON
~
Friends in this city were shocked last evening to learn of the death of Sister Mary Christiana, of the Sisters of Charity, B.V.M., which occurred at Lyons, Ia., at 5:30 in the evening. She had been in her usual health, but, while eating her noon day meal she suffered a stroke, from which she failed to rally, and at 5:30 her Master called her to His Heavenly home.

Sister Mary Christiana was born in Dubuque, being the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Brown. Over forty years ago she entered the Sisters of Charity and devoted her entire life to God’s work. During the past number of years she had been stationed at Lyons, Iowa, teaching music, where she was loved not only by her pupils, but by all who came in contact with her. Her thought in life was to make others happy, and the way she succeeded is attested by her countless friends.

She is survived by two brothers, William H. Brown of this city, and John F. Brown, Knights of Columbus secretary, now stationed at Cobienz, Lutzel, Germany. The funeral and burial will be held at Lyons on Saturday morning. William H. Brown left for Lyons upon receipt of the word of Sister Mary Christiana’s illness, but did not reach there until she had passed away..
