Veronica S. Wagner, 87, of Clinton passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Harbor Crest Home – Fulton.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Prince of Peace Parish – Clinton. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Veronica S. Fishburn was born February 6, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Mary E. (Blaine) and Mark D. Fishburn. She attended Our Lady of Angels High School. She married Vernon Wagner on September 27, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on January 16, 2013.

Veronica worked at Lafayette Hotel for many years. She was a welder during World War II, where she met Vernon. She worked at International Paper as a Die helper for 23 years; retiring in 1991.

Veronica was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, and gardening. If the fish were biting she would go fishing with Vernon. She was an avid reader but mostly she loved being a grandmother.

Veronica is survived by her three children: Kathleen (Bob) Simpson of Morrison, Michael (Robin) Wagner of Hannibal, Missouri, and Patrick (Susan) Wagner of Clinton, Iowa; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two sisters: Teresa Fry “Tess” of Chicago, Illinois and Jean DeSchriver of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, two brothers, and three sisters.
