Clarence E. Eizenga, 84, of Camanche passed away, Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time Friday at the funeral home.
Clarence Earl Eizenga was born on May 16, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Charles and Clara (Tuinstra) Eizenga. He graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 1948. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953.
Clarence was employed with Commonwealth Edison for many years retiring in 1986 as a station construction supervisor. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and was a member and Elder of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton.
Clarence married Estelle Tamminga and had six children: Ann Eizenga who later passed away, Beth Ann (Kerry) George of Aurora, Colorado, Clare (Leona) Eizenga of Villa Park, Illinois, Ellen (Scott) Culpepper of Wheeling, Illinois, Deanna (Mark) Sharbono of Aurora, Colorado, and Warren (Jeannie Gibson) Eizenga of Trevor, Wisconsin; they later divorced. He later married Carroll (Stratton) Biggs on December 31, 1985 in Camanche and became the father to William “Roger” Biggs of Camanche, Jeana Broughton of Clinton, Sammy Biggs of Decatur, Illinois, and David Biggs of East Moline, Illinois. He was also survived by 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and his brother Chuck (Susan) Eizenga of Chatel Hill, Tennessee.
In addition to his daughter Ann, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Christopher and Dillon, one brother, and one sister.
Memorials can be made to Unity Christian School.
