Dorothy Kieller, 92, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday morning, September 23, 2015 at the Alverno.

A Funeral Mass will be 9:30am Friday, September 25, 2015 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Dorothy Czeszewski was born on February 27, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Katherine (Braczeszski) Czeszewski. She married Walter Kieller on January 17, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan; he died November 12, 2003. They moved to Clinton in November 1964.

Dorothy was a beloved mother and homemaker. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the former St. Patrick’s Church prior to the consolidation. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary. She helped at many church weddings, funerals and volunteering for many of the church needs and activities. She liked helping at and playing bingo at the church. She volunteered at the Red Cross for many years. She loved playing cards with family and friends, especially Euchre. She also volunteered to drive people, many veterans, to Iowa City to the VA Hospital or the University of Iowa Hospital for various appointments and treatments. She loved to cook, making many Polish dishes that everyone enjoyed. Sauerkraut was one her special recipes that everyone raved about. Dorothy loved being around people and really cared about them. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by daughters: Stephanie (Art) Hofer of DeWitt, and Constance (Phillip) Cavanaugh of Ottumwa; grandchildren: Laura (Brian) Hinspeter of Waukee, Brad (Cynthia) Hofer of Grimes, Hannah, Luke, and Leah Cavanaugh all of Ottumwa; great-grandchildren: Brenden, Brody, and Jenna Hinspeter, Greyson and Easton Hofer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, a brother, a sister, and a son: Tony.
